 The special aluminium alloy used in the production of Alurad is extremely resistant to corrosion. In addition, an oxide layer forms on aluminium surfaces at high temperatures which also helps protect against corrosion.
However heating systems equipped with radiators are open to corrosion from such substances as mineral salts, nitrates, chlorine etc. In addition, where a number of different metals are mixed in a heating system, there is also the threat of galvanic corrosion.
After many tests, the inhibitor Antikor has been developed. This inhibitor is manufactured in tablet form and placed inside each Alurad radiator. When water enters the system the tablet dissolves and coats the inside surfaces of the radiator.
For additional protection, and to protect the other metals in your heating system, Antikor can be purchased in drums of pre-mixed fluid. The use of any other inhibitor in the system will invalidate your 10 year Alurad warranty.
Anitkor 121 is available in 30 litre drums and must be added to your system at a concentration of at least 25%. Due to the low water content of Alurad, 1 drum of Antikor will be enough in most circumstances. Price is €140 inc vat delivered.
